What we have delivered

  • We lobbied the University to make sure that they did not record fail grades that students may have received upon completion of their units.
  • We tried to get the University to give tuition fee discounts to all students paying their fees upfront. Though we were unsuccessful, we managed to convince the University to allow any student who failed a unit to retake that same unit (or a similar one) for free the following year.
  • We lobbied the University to implement an Ungraded Pass system, allowing students to choose which units they wanted to affect their GPA.
  • We lobbied the University to contribute more funding to student hardship programs. They initially responded by quadrupling the existing Safety Net Grant Scheme budget before also implementing an expanded Fast Track hardship program.
  • We lobbied the University to give students a break at the height of the pandemic in Tasmania. The University responded by implementing a 5 business day extension for all assignments.
  • We launched the Helping Hand scheme to support students struggling as a result of COVID-19. This scheme has helped almost 1,000 students with their basic needs through a $25 shopping voucher.
  • We subsidised Mental Health training for student leaders
