We’re back on campus!! Join your TUSA on the Ref Steps for an outdoor movie night where we’ll be screening the incredibly powerful film Mabo.
It tells the story of Torres Strait Islander Eddie Koiki Mabo who championed Aboriginal rights and the successful legal battle he won to bring about native land title legislation.
It’s all part of NAIDOC Week: Always Was, Always Will Be.
Always Was, Always Will Be. recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.
We are spiritually and culturally connected to this country.
This country was criss-crossed by generations of brilliant Nations.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists.
We’ll be giving out free popcorn and hopefully a food truck will be joining us also. Can’t wait to see you!
COVIDsafe practices will of course be in effect and all attendees must complete a temperature check at Morris Miller or Stanley Burbury before being allowed enter the event space
